In July of 2006 the West Union Police
Department held a fundraiser at Lilac Lanes and was able to raise enough
money through community donations to purchase “Rosco”,
the cities first K-9 drug dog. Rosco is a
Silver Labrador Retriever and is proficient at finding marijuana, hashish,
cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, methamphetamines ice and powder,
and oxycontin. Rosco’s
searching abilities consist of vehicles, residential and commercial
buildings, and open fields. Rosco will be
used primarily for the detection of narcotics and will also be used for
educational purposes for school children.
The West Union Police Department would like
to express its appreciation to the following businesses that helped make
the purchase of West Union’s first K-9 drug
dog, Rosco, a huge
success.
