On January 1, 2010 at 12:42AM West Union Police were called to Tapt Out for a fight in progress. Upon arrival Police identified Steven W. Teneyck,46, of Keystone Iowa as one individual who was involved. The second person had already fled the scene. Teneyck was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Teneyck was taken to the Fayette County Law Enforcement center where he was held for court.
On January 1, 2009 at 1:59AM West Union Police stopped
a vehicle in the 400 block of West Elm St for a traffic violation. The driver
of the vehicle John Lee Vanzandt Jr,36, of Springfield MO, was intoxicated.
Vanzandt was arrested and charged with OWI 1st offense and operating
a non registered vehicle. Vanzandt was taken to the Fayette County Law
Enforcement center where he was held for court.
On Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 3:43 AM the Fayette County Sheriff’s office was contacted by authorities from Dane County Wisconsin. Authorities there received a 911 call from a resident in that county of a subject in West Union threatening to harm himself with a weapon. West Union Police and deputies from the Fayette County Sheriff’s office responded to 108 Cherry St in West Union. At 6:48AM Ricky L. Putman, 41, of West Union was taken into custody by members of the Oelwein Police Department tactical unit. Putman was taken to Palmer Lutheran Health Center for evaluation. Officers and responders on the scene of this incident were from the West Union Police, Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Oelwein Police Department Tactical unit, the Iowa State Patrol, and Northeast Iowa Medical Transport. This incident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
On January 14, 2010 West Union Police arrested Devin Ackerson, 20, of Nashua at the West Union Residential Facility. Ackerson was wanted by authorities in Chickasaw County for violation of probation. He was taken to the Fayette County Sheriffs office and later taken to Chickasaw county to appear in court.
On Saturday, January 23, 2010 shortly after midnight West Union police were called to a domestic disturbance. A short while later Brian K. Willis, 25, of West Union was located at his residence and arrested for Domestic Abuse assault, 2nd offense and Possession of Drug paraphernalia. Willis was taken to the Fayette County Law Enforcement Center where he was held for court.
